HELP IS HERE.
Most questions answered below. For anything else, email us — there are four of us at Proper Medium and a real person reads every message.
Most messages get a reply within 1–2 business days. Bug reports go to the top of the pile. We're based in Atlanta, working roughly 9–6 ET.
No trial. Proper Tasks is a one-time purchase of $4.99 — no subscription, no in-app purchases, no upsells. See Q.08 below for what the price covers and where it's headed.
No. Proper Tasks is local-first — your data stays on your device. From the menu, Backup Data exports a file you can save anywhere (iCloud Drive, Files, Dropbox), and Restore Data brings it back on the same device or a new one. You're in control of where the file lives.
Yes. The menu has both Export CSV (for spreadsheets and accounting tools) and Export PDF Summary (clean weekly reports). Both pull from whatever week or date range you have selected at the time.
Right now Proper Tasks is iPhone-only and requires iOS 17 or later. iPad and Mac versions are something we're considering, but nothing's promised on a timeline. There's no Android or web version, and none are planned.
Swipe right on any task to open its menu, and you'll find the option to make it recurring — daily, weekly, or on specific days of the week. Once set, the task populates automatically going forward, so you don't have to retype the standing items each week.
Yes — both are fully user-defined. Add as many categories (clients, projects, areas of life) and roles (editor, writer, billable, internal, whatever) as you need, assign each one a color, and rename them anytime. Nothing is locked.
Because nothing is stored on a server, lost data can't be recovered remotely — by us or by anyone. The fix is prevention: use Backup Data regularly and keep the backup file somewhere safe (iCloud Drive is a good default). If you've never backed up and your device is gone, the data is gone too. We're sorry — that's the trade-off for a no-account, privacy-first app.
For the time being, yes — your $4.99 covers ongoing updates as we add features and fix bugs. To be straightforward about it: $4.99 is an introductory price. We're keeping it low while we build a user base in the early going, and we expect to raise it as the app matures. There's no current plan for a paid 2.0, a "Pro" tier, or a subscription, and we're not promising any of those will never exist either. The one thing we will say with confidence: if you buy now, you're buying at the lowest price this app will ever be.
Calendar Sync reads your iOS calendar and shows your existing events alongside your tasks for context. You can sync multiple calendars and choose exactly which ones to pull from — your work calendar plus the kids' soccer schedule, for example, while leaving anything else out. The read happens locally on your device; nothing is transmitted to us or any third party. Toggle it on or off anytime in Calendar Settings.
Email support@propertasks.app with whatever it is. Bug, feature request, frustration, kind word — all welcome.
Proper Tasks doesn't have user accounts. It doesn't connect to a server. It doesn't send analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or any other information about you anywhere. Everything you create — tasks, categories, roles, time tracked — stays on your device.
Calendar sync. If you enable Calendar Sync, the app reads your iOS calendar locally on your device. That data is never transmitted to us or any third party.
Backups. Backup files are created by you and saved wherever you save them — iCloud Drive, Files, Dropbox, anywhere. We never see them. They never touch our infrastructure.
Email. When you email us, we have your email address and your message — nothing more. We use that to reply to you and don't share it with anyone or add you to any list.
That is the entire privacy policy. If you have legal questions, email support@propertasks.app and we'll answer them directly.
All refunds for App Store purchases are processed by Apple, not by us. We can't issue them directly — but the request is straightforward:
Apple typically responds within 24–48 hours. Their published policy allows refund requests within 90 days of purchase, though approval is at their discretion. If you run into trouble or Apple declines and you think they shouldn't have, email us — we can sometimes help advocate, but we can't override their decision.
